Brian Creager was living a double life; corporate executive by day, and packaged goods manufacturer by... well, earlier in the day.
For more than a year, Brian got up at 3am to start working on his side hustle before heading off to his day job. That side hustle was selling premium shampoo under his boutique label krieger + söhne. His strategy was to sell to barbers in local markets, and it wasn't going nearly as well as he had initially planned.
Then, in a chance conversation at a conference, it was suggested to Brian that he list his shampoo on Amazon. He did, and after seeing some initial success, decided to double-down on the platform. He moved his inventory into Amazon's warehouses (to be picked, packed, and shipped through their "fulfilled by Amazon" program), and immersed himself in the study of Amazon's algorithms - and the more he did, the faster his business grew.
A mere 18 months after starting his business, it had grown to create an income that more than replaced his corporate salary.
